Orphan Grain Train

Orphan Grain Train is a recognized service organization (RSO) of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS). Many shipments have been in cooperation with Lutheran Hour Ministries, LCMS World Mission, LCMS World Relief, and other Christian ministries.

Orphan Grain Train is a 501c3 Nonprofit Christian volunteer network that shares personal and material resources with needy people in America and around the world. Grain Train volunteers gather donations of clothing, medical supplies, food, Christian literature, and other aid to meet real needs. The Orphan Grain Train movement is a loving response to Jesus Christ’s example as a servant and His love for us.

Our Contribution

At Christ Lutheran Church, we collect pillowcases that our volunteers sew into dresses, and t-shirts (Ladies size X-Large and Men’s size Large) sewn into diapers, which are sent through Orphan Grain Train to supply those in need.

We typically complete 200 dresses and # diapers a year, and will occasionally have a workshop in the fellowship hall where we bring in our supplies and spend a day sewing together!

Benny's House

Benny’s House is an emergency food pantry serving the Newaygo County area. It is volunteer-run and funded by grants and donations. Benny’s House is located at 1139 E Newell in White Cloud and is open Monday through Thursday 10-noon. Currently, people can use the pantry twice a month.

We collect items to donate to Benny’s House throughout the year, and every year between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, we have a diaper drive to collect boxes and packages of diapers to donate.

Love, Inc.

The local church is God’s answer to community brokenness and a part of his plan of redemption and restoration. That’s why we mobilize local churches to offer a holistic approach to caring for people in all areas of life: spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical. At Christ Lutheran, we have a unique and rewarding partnership with Love, Inc and are blessed to serve those in our community.

Blessings shared through our Mission offerings

Bethany Christian Services

Bethany demonstrates the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by protecting children, empowering youth, and strengthening families through quality social services. Jesus said,

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Camp Concordia

Since 1957, Camp Concordia's goal has been to provide opportunities for children, youth and their families to encounter Christ in the midst of God's creation enriching body and soul and resulting in strong missional skills and actions.
We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. Psalm 78:4

Evergreen Lutheran School

In our missions offerings, we help to support the Evergreen Lutheran School in Detroit, Michigan. Evergreen is the only surviving Lutheran school in the city of Detroit and operates on a very minimal budget. We can help to keep their doors open as they continue to fulfill their primary mission goal of providing a safe, Christ-centered learning environment for their students.

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

Lutheran Bible Translators

Lutheran Bible Translators partners with local leaders to create translation programs for the many communities who do not have access to God’s Word in their native language. Our translator Becky is in our prayers and our support through mission offerings.
